Tricks For Better Beach Waves

Aloha!!! Recently I have been so busy! I have taken drivers ed, just come back from vacation at the beach and started school! There's something about hair during the summer that gives you a naturally beautiful look. During my vacation, I did little styling to my hair and let the beach take over. I have was left with amazing windswept beach waves! As much as we all want to walk along the beach with the wind flying through your hair with no care in the world, this isn't practical! But don't fret, I have a few tips to help you get the perfect beach waves at home!
   1) Sea Salt & Scrunching: After washing your hair and drying it (towel or air drying) until slightly damp, spritz your hair with the sea salt spray of your choice. Comb through and scrunch your hair. Once dry you are given a easy chic hairstyle.
Not Your Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray (8oz): $4.74- found at Walmart
Loreal TXT It Tousle Wave Spray : $4.99 found at Ulta
OGX Moroccan Sea Salt Spray: $7.99
   2) Sleeping In A Braid: Make sure that your hair is slightly damp (whether you wash it and dry it or spritz it with water). Braid your hair and go to bed with it in. In the morning, check to make sure your hair is dry and let the braid out to be given loose waves. Spray with a light weight hairspray and you are set for the day.
   3) Sleeping In A Bun: As long as you don't leave that awful crease in your hair, left from a ponytail, sleeping in a high bun is an easy way to get those beautiful waves while still looking stylish.
   4) Using a Curling Wand: If you use a wide barrel, and twist your hair before putting the strand on the wand, you are left with effortless curls. You can also do this the night before and sleep on those curls so when you wake up in the morning you have a "windswept".
All these tricks will leave you with amazing beach waves. You can wear them to school or if you are still experiencing the joys of summer (lucky you) then these would be perfect for any outfit! I will become more present on the blog in the days to come! Sorry again to you all and Caroline for the brief hiatus!
                                                                                                            Yours truly,
                                                                                                                      Sarah C.

Name Reveal & Get Ready With Me!

Hey y'all! Today is the first official day of summer!! Today is a very exciting day! C and I are proud to announce that we will start going by our first names!!! My name is Sarah and I will be going by Sarah C from now on! I am so glad that you guys know even more about me now and hope that it will allow us to connect even more! Anyways, now on to getting ready with me!
I usually get up every morning around 8am but recently I have been sleeping in until 10!! Once I wake up, I make my way upstairs, put my hair in a ponytail and brush my teeth/ wash my face. I use Avar cleanser in the morning to wash my face. After washing my face, I apply my Cetaphil moisturizer.   I then proceed to make breakfast. Usually I can be found eating half a bagel (cream cheese or peanut butter), 2 scoops of greek yogurt with granola and some type of tea. (usually english morning tea, earl grey or mint) in my british mug while watching the news. About this time I decide I would no longer like to stay in my pajamas and travel back down stairs to do my makeup and get dressed.

Every morning I have trouble figuring out what to wear. I have so many options and so many thing can affect what I wear. i.e., temperature, today's activities, how lazy I am feeling etc! :) Today I decided to wear a plain white shirt with the polo logo on the front accompanied with black J.crew shorts to match the logo. Once I figure what I am wearing, I proceed to makeupify my face! I walk out to my makeup table outside my room.

Everyday I use Covergirl Outlast 3-1 foundation in the shade ivory. Since I am so pale, it is hard to find a foundation to match my skin tone but this foundation matches it perfectly! After foundation, I use my Covergirl concealer in creamy natural to cover up under eye circles and blemishes. I use my elf pressed powder and Clinique blush in Smoldering Plum. Then I use Maybelline eyeshadow singles in the color Earthly Taupe followed by my Le Crayon Yeux Chanel eyeliner on my tight line in the shade Violet Smoke (given to me by Caroline). I quickly curl my lashes and apply 2 coats of whichever waterproof mascara I grab first. Then I take a spool brush dipped in vaseline and shape my brows.
Though it seems like a lot, I have this routine cut down to a total

8 minutes! For a quick hairstyle you can do while running out the door, I grab a 1 1/2 inch section of hair on the frontish side of my head and braid down to the ends and voila! You are ready to leave the house looking stylish, confident and ready to conquer anything that comes your way!
I hope y'all have a wonderful summer! If you have any suggestions for future posts then let me know in the comments below!

Braided Headband

Hey Wellie lovers! Today I am sharing a quick and easy DIY that shouldn't cost you any money whatsoever, the three strand braided headband.
For supplies all you need is scissors and an old shirt. Using the scissors, cut across the front half bottom of the shirt creating one strip (I used an old white shirt). Repeat twice more to create three strips around the same size. Line up the strips and tie them together at one end. Braid down the strand and finish with another knot. Tie both knots together to fit the size of your head.  These headbands are really comfortable to sleep in or to wear out and are really easy to customize how thick you want them.

How You Can Help Your Hair

The Top 10 Hair Mistakes You Are Making

1.Shampooing Everyday: Washing your luxurious locks everyday can leave them, well, not so luxurious. All those suds wash away oils that your hair needs to maintain its glossy sheen. Instead, try to get your washing down to 2 or 3 times a week. If you have hair that's extremely thick, like mine, you may even be able to wash once a week.

2.Toweling Off: While wearing that towel turban around the house is convenient, you are actually causing frizz. That absorbent towel material opens up the cuticle, the top most layer of the hair strand. When the cuticle is roughed up your hair gets that frizzy, Mother from A Christmas Story, look. Use a microfiber T-Shirt instead and remember, blot, don't rub!

3.Over Brushing: That's right ladies, all that tugging and shedding can damage your hair. Pulling can create frizz, friction, and even split ends. A word to the wise, put down the Conair and reach for a boar bristle brush. Even one with faux bristles cuts down on friction and is much gentler. Don't brush your hair more than twice a day tops. Counting 100 strokes of brushing, is doing more harm than good. Personally, I often use a comb which causes much less friction. Conditioning tip: keep a comb in the shower to evenly distribute your conditioner. The result is silky, tangle free hair that won't get all fluffy.

4.Brushing wet hair: Please, please, please do not do this. A comb is much gentler on your vulnerable, dripping mane. Trust me, your hair will thank you.

5. Not using a heat protectant: Imagine taking a trip to the beach for a week. You want to leave a little less pasty than you arrived so you decide to lay in the sun all week without sunscreen. Ouch, right? Sunburn is much worse than pale skin. (by the way I love being pale) The same goes for using heat on your hair. By not using a heat protectant you are damaging you hair and will soon be left with unsightly split ends. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of styling your hair?!

6. Using too much gel: this applies for all hair products. Have you ever felt someone else's (or your own) hair and found that it is crunchy? While you or your friend may have been going for a classy, sleek 'do, you have achieved the opposite; an awkward, sticky mess. Go light on thick products.

7. Over Flat Ironing: I can not tell you how much it pains me to see girls with stick straight hair that flares out into fluffy, split ends. Its okay to wear your natural hair, really. Just as washing everyday is detrimental, so is straightening everyday. Even heat protectant can't keep your hair as soft as giving it a few days off.

8. Using The Bobby Pin With The Crimpy Side Up: Not until a year ago did I realize I had been going about it all wrong. Turns out those odd crimps should be closest to your scalp to give you better hold. Try it and be amazed!

9. Washing The Second Your Roots Are Oily: I know it may sound gritty, dusty, and chalky, but dry shampoos are great for day two hair. They provide texture to otherwise slick hair. Trust me, its not as sticky as it sounds. You can even buy them at the drugstore! Next time you are a little too glossy, reach for dry shampoo; not the shower handle.

10.Being Vague With Your Stylist: The next time you are at the salon, don't be afraid to explicitly instruct your stylist what shape, length, and texture you would like your hair to be. Do not simply say you would like to take an inch off, often we underestimate how large an inch is. Show your stylist where you would like it to fall. Do you want to be able to pull it up into a ponytail? Tell them that. The same applies for layering, coloring, and thinning. If you want, bring in a picture. You will leave much happier.
